NAYA knows that Indigenous people have a long history of resiliency in times of uncertainty. Even so, we hope that providing information on community resources is helpful for those families making rapid adjustments in routines and behaviors due to COVID-19.

‍Native American Youth and Family Center

NAYA delivers meals to  elders and after-school families who are already enrolled in NAYA programming. MNA students should go to local school distribution sites for meals provided there. SNAPUPDATE: Oregon Department of Human Services is now issuing emergency supplements to current SNAP recipients. More information HERE. Public structures like SNAP are here for these critical moments. SNAP offers nutrition assistance to eligible individuals and families. You can learn more on the Oregon Department of Human Services website about whether you’re eligible for SNAP and apply online to help keep food on the table. No Questions Asked Meal Calendar for Everyone

The Homeless Youth Continuum has compiled this amazing calendar of where anyone can receive a free meal, no questions asked. There are 20+ options from around the Portland area on most days.

Portland Public Schools

Breakfast and lunch will be provided to children in the community ages 1–18. Tuesday, March 17–Friday, March 20, and March 30 –31. Meals will be available for pickup outside the school from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Pick-up sites here.

Beaverton Schools

Breakfast and lunch for all students and children ages one and older, March 16–20 and March 30–31 from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. at designated sites. Students must be present at pick up. Pick up sites here. Centennial Schools Drive-up or walk-up breakfast and lunch at Centennial High School, near the auditorium, and Parklane Elementary School through Wednesday, March 18 and Monday, March 30 and Tuesday, March 31. Times for breakfast will be from 9:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m. and lunch will be provided from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Clackamas Schools Breakfast and lunch will be available for all district students who need them starting Monday, March 16–March 31, Monday–Friday from 7:30–9:00 a.m. at Clackamas High, Milwaukie High, and Rex Putnam. Student must be present to receive the food.

David Douglas School District

Pick up breakfast (9–10 a.m.) and lunch (12–1 p.m.) at four sites: David Douglas High School, Ron Russell Middle School, Ventura Park Elementary School, and Gilbert Heights Elementary.Evergreen School DistrictBreakfast and lunch grab-n-go sack meals from 9–10 a.m. for all community children 18 and younger.

Pick up sites: Burton Elementary, Cascade MS, Covington MS, Crestline Elementary, Ellsworth Elementary, Heritage HS, Mill Plain Elementary, Silver Star Elementary.Delivery: ESD will be operating normal elementary pick-up routes during the usual schedule to deliver meals to children 18 and younger at usual stops. This is for all district-wide elementary school routes on usual school days. Bus schedules and stops are located on the district website.

Gresham Barlow

Grab-and-go breakfast (8:30 a.m.–9 a.m.) and lunch (11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.) for students ages 18 and under. Locations: Clear Creek Middle School, Gordon Russell Middle School, Highland Elementary School, Hogan Cedars Elementary School, North Gresham Elementary School, East, Gresham Elementary School, Kelly Creek Elementary School, West Gresham Elementary School.

Hillsboro SchoolsMeals will be offered to any child at any location, ages 1–18. Distribution times at the individual school sites are 10 a.m. for elementary school students, 11 a.m. for middle school students, and 12 p.m. for high school students. Pick up sites: R.A. Brown Middle School, Century High School, South Meadows Middle School, Lincoln Street Elementary School, Evergreen Middle School, Poynter Middle School, Liberty High School.Parkrose SchoolsBreakfast and lunch through March 20 from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. and Parkrose Middle School (11800 NE Shaver) and Russell Elementary (2700 NE 127th). Students must be present to get their meals.Reynolds School DistrictReynolds School District will be offering meals for all students and families 18 and under at our three middle schools (H.B. Lee, Reynolds Middle, and Walt Morey) and at Reynolds High School during the week of March 16–20. Curbside, pick-up distribution will be Monday-Friday from 11:30am–1:00pm.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels People dining centers will be providing take-home meals to its constituents in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties beginning Friday, March 13, in an effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Meals on Wheels home-delivery will continue uninterrupted using a non-contact delivery method. Information here.

Sunshine Division

Pacific Power

‍Pacific Power has temporarily suspended nonpayment disconnections and late fees and can work with customers who are struggling to pay their bill.

Portland General Electric

‍PGE has suspended non-payment disconnection and can work with customers who are struggling to pay their bill.Portland Water BureauPWB will not be shut off sewer/water services during this time. PLEASE NOTE: The Water Bureau always offers crisis assistance in the form of a $500 voucher once every 12 months if you cannot pay your bill at any time. More information here.

NW Natural Gas

NW Natural Gas will not disconnect customers who can’t make a payment due to impacts caused by the coronavirus. Customers will continue to receive bills and past-due notices. But NW Natural will not send a final shut-off notice and disconnect service. More info on bill payment assistance can be found here.

Unemployment

The State of Oregon website has detailed information on questions about business closures, layoffs, and info on filing for Unemployment Insurance.

Rent

Multnomah County has stopped all evictions. Landlords will not be able to evict people who have fallen behind on rent payments. Those who are behind due to a loss of income related to COVID-19 will be given a six-month grace period to pay back their rent after the state of emergency is over. There will be no late fees. Those who can’t pay their rent or mortgage for reasons unrelated to the virus will not be at risk of eviction, but they will not have the six month period to make the payments. Notify your landlord in writing that you have lost/diminished income because of the pandemic. More information can be found here.

Mortgages

Homeowners with loans guaranteed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac who have lost income or their jobs because of COVID-19 should be eligible to have their mortgage payments reduced or suspended for up to 12 months. Contact the lender that you send the check to every month to work out a payment plan.

Student Loan Payment Suspension

Suspending your federal student loan payments for 60 days is not automatic. You must contact your loan service to request an “administrative forbearance. This only applies to federal student loans held by a federal government agency.

The deadline to  file federal taxes is now July 15, 2020. This also applies to Oregon State taxes. If you think you are owed a refund, you're encouraged to file now. Most tax refunds are still being issued within 21 days.
