Engagement, Advocacy and Policy

Yá’át’ééh! Da’anzho! Paġlagivsi! Welcome!

NAYA fosters community civic leadership in a variety of ways. We host the Portland Indian Leaders Roundtable (PILR) in which a group of leaders in the community discuss important issues and share resources throughout our region. NAYA is committed to developing the next generation of community leadership through theOregon LEAD program. The Portland Youth and Elders Councilhas provided our Native youth and elders a safe and meaningful space to identify and address issues that negatively impact the Native American and Alaska Native community. By partnering with other diverse Native and mainstream organizations, we are able to strengthen the fabric of our Native voice throughout the region. Our robust community engagement program seeks to register our community members to vote, provide voter education, and opportunities for engagement at the local and statewide levels. You can learn more about these programs and how to get involved by visiting the pages at the left.

We use the model below to engage, influence, and foster leaders in our community.
