Comcast is dedicated to providing support to diverse and growing communities in which they provide services. This year,  Fred J. Maahs, Jr., Senior Director of Community Investment for Comcast, and Vice President of the Comcast Foundation, will be attending the gala to continue building Comcast’s longstanding partnership with Portland’s Native community.

Mr. Maahs is a champion for diversity and equity and serves on Comcast’s Joint Diversity Council and is an Executive Champion of Abilities Network – one of Comcast’s Employee Resource Groups. In addition to his diversity leadership, Mr. Maahs actively partners with community based organization including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, has numerous relationships with Native American organizations, and leads a variety of diverse partnerships at the corporate and regional level. During his tenure at Comcast, Mr. Maahs has been responsible for the company’s national signature community investment programs, many of which have benefited NAYA, such as Comcast Cares Day, the Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship program (NAYA’s ECA student Alano Llanos received this year’s $10,000 scholarship), and the annual United Way campaign.

With continued support from Comcast and leaders like Mr. Maahs, NAYA is able to sustain Portland’s vibrant Native American community by providing opportunities to celebrate heritage, tradition, and provide vital supports for our youth, families, and Elders.
