February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

STEP 2 Respect, our program bringing awareness to teen dating violence, sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking, has much planned in February to celebrate National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.

On Friday, February 7th, all NAYA staff members will receive a training from the STEP 2 Respect program on Teen Dating Violence, to help us better serve the teenagers in our Early College Academy, and our community.

On Monday, February 10th, Parents attending our Culture Night will receive a similar training to ensure they know the warning signs of when their teenagers might be experiencing dating violence.

Tuesday, February 11th is “Wear Orange Day,” and everyone is encouraged to wear orange to raise awareness of teen dating violence. The NAYA staff member who shows the most spirit will win prizes from STEP to Respect. Early College Academy STEP to Respect Leaders will host “In Their Shoes” at 12:55pm in Room 203.

Thursday February 13th, NAYA Staff will participate in an “In Their Shoes” activity, 11:45am – 12:45pm in Room 203.

Then, on February 14th, we’ll be joining the worldwide movement to end sexual violence with 1 Billion Rising by having a Flash Dance at NAYA’s Cafetorium.
