2014: A Special Year for NAYA
2014 is the 40th year that NAYA has been providing services to the vibrant and growing Native American, Alaska Native and First Nations community of Portland. We’re a more than 40,000 strong population of Indigenous people from all walks of life, and nearly 380 tribes. NAYA has grown substantially over the last 40 years, and we will spend this year telling our community the story of where we started, where we are now, and where we’re headed in the next 40 years.
It’s also a special year for NAYA’s Executive Director, Matt Morton, who turns 40 in February. Matt has dedicated his adult life to the service of Native Americans, children and students, and we look forward to his continuing representing us in the broader community, and steering the NAYA canoe.
Matt’s leadership has been recognized by his peers and community, as he was named one of the Portland Business Journal’s 40 under 40, the annual list of the 40 most influential leaders under age 40 in our area. It’s great to see Native American representation on this list of some of the Portland metro area’s most respected and innovative people. For more information visit the Portland Business Journal’s website. Matt made it in just under the wire to qualify for this prestigious list.
Be sure to congratulate Matt Morton on his selection as a local leader by Portland Business Journal and his peers.
