#GivingTuesday is the annual day of philanthropy that falls on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. NAYA hopes that you can make a donation  so we can continue to do all of the good work we do!

Guided by our elders and trusted by the community, NAYA creates a place for our people to gather together and live the values of our own unique cultures. When the Native community thrives so does the entire Portland region.

In these turbulent times it is especially important that we stand strong with those in our community who may need extra support or guidance to smooth their journey.  We know each of us needs a helping hand at times, and we are honored to be here to lend that support to those in our community who may have nowhere else to turn.

Please join us on Giving Tuesday and help us lend that helping hand to our community!

NAYA Cares

Foster Care  and   Homelessness
24% of  Multnomah County first year foster care children are Native, and 34% in year two. Foster children are 2x as likely to experience homelessness and 28% of the county’s homeless children in  are Native. Everyday NAYA serves homeless youth and families, finding solutions where there were none before.

Drop-out Rates
Multnomah County has an AI/AN high school dropout rate of over 20%, and we know that only 1 in 10 of our children will graduate with a normal diploma in 4 years. NAYA works to reverse these numbers though our after-school program, youth advocacy team, sports and cultural offerings, with the relational-worldview model which guides all of our work.

Cultural Identity
As an urban population, NAYA families and youth are often cut off from tribal communities and may not have been exposed to their histories, traditions and Native practices. NAYA helps to fill those gaps, and give youth pieces of their cultural identity back so they can lead healthy and inspired lives.

Poverty Rates
Poverty is endemic in our community: 50% of the American Indians and Alaskan Natives living in Multnomah County live 200% below the poverty level.  This breaks down to $7.22 an hour to support a family of four.  NAYA clients are some of the most vulnerable in Portland and they need your support!
