Culture Night
October 2, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Did you know that traditional games often reinforced skills that complemented the work that needed to be done around villages?
For example, physical fitness, strength, and agility were valuable skills for subsistence activities and protection. Dexterity, endurance, and the power of deduction helped with other necessary tasks, even governance. Games and sports were also a popular way for the community to come together for enjoyment.
Culture Night is a time for families and community members to come together, share a meal and to learn traditions and crafts. Culture Nights feature guest speakers, arts instructors and volunteers who guide community members to explore the many traditions of our diverse cultures.
Also, Culture Nights are a perfect way for those families who are unfamiliar with their Native traditions to start making connections–and connecting their kids to community. All are welcome! Come!
Dinner is at 5:30 p.m.
Most materials will be provided for beginner projects. Youth must be accompanied by a guardian or advocate. All ages and levels of knowledge are welcome and encouraged to attend!
