NAYA’s Legislative Day of Action

Advocate for legislative action that will improve the lifestyles, economic development, stability and long-term outcomes for you and Native American communities throughout Oregon.

Meet with decision makers such as Governor Kate Brown; Speaker of the House, Tina Kotek (District 44;) Representative Tawna Sanchez (District 43;) Representative Barbara Smith Warner (District 45;) and more, to discuss important issues such as the Early Childhood Equity Fund, funding for the Individual Development Account (IDA) Program, tenant protections rights, Indian education rights,  safe traffic and roads, marijuana-related crimes expungement and paid family leave.

Learn about how you can be civically engaged, see how our state laws are made and sit in on a live legislative session.

Transportation & Meals Provided
Community bus will leave from NAYA Family Center promptly at 8:00 am and return to NAYA Family Center by 4:00 pm.

Requirements for participation: 

  • Must be able to attend the full day of activities
  • Participate in a one hour Legislative Advocacy Training prior to event (details to come)
  • Adherence to NAYA Core Values
  • Have a desire to create change with a positive approach
