Chxi San Playgroup
September 27 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Chxi San Playgroup will be at Pioneer Square for the Dancing in the Square Powwow! Please bring a water bottle and dress for 60-65 degree weather.
Below is our itinerary for the powwow and a short list of powwow etiquette. If you would like to ride the Max in with us so we can pay your fare, meet us between 10-10:30 am at one of these locations:
Winter: Lloyd Center NE 11th Ave
Jennifer: N Killingsworth Max Station
Brandi: Park and Ride – 3618 SE 92nd Ave (Powell)
If you would like to drive yourself, please meet us at Pioneer Square between 11-11:30 am.
11:30: Opening Circle Pioneer Square. Let’s gather together and introduce ourselves and our children. At this time, we’ll decide where to meet for lunch. Let’s really focus on our playgroup community and put the wealth of skills we all have to look out for each other and the little ones. We are the village it takes.
The powwow starts at noon, so we will be getting there a little early. This is a good time to familiarize ourselves with the surroundings together and decide how we can meet if someone gets lost.
12:30: Lunch time! We’ll provide sack lunches.
Between 1-1:30: Meet back where we first met in Pioneer Square if you want to ride the max back with the NAYA team. As we gather, share what you’ve noticed your child was most drawn to at the powwow. If you don’t want to ride back with us, please feel free to stay as long as you like.
Chxi San is a Chinook Wawa word meaning “new day.” Chxi San is a community-oriented playgroup for parents and their children, pre-birth through age five, that creates a nurturing circle of care through culturally focused, child-centered, and developmentally appropriate play in a structured environment.
We welcome and encourage community, elders and kin to join parents and their children in the playgroup. We also provide healthy, nutritious and culturally appropriate snacks during playgroup.
The playgroup is free and open to all.
