NAYA’s Camp Nanich is a free summer camp offered to children entering into kindergarten & 1st grade. The full day camp offers children preparation for school with emphasis on literacy, numeracy, social-emotional skills and cultural identity. The camp also offers children an exciting and fun opportunity to engage with other Native children within the Portland metro area as well as recreational activities that increases motor skills and physical activity.
Camp Nanich is held offsite at Applegate Preschool next to Farragut City Park. The campers will have access to the park and have many special guests that visit the classroom, including: Multnomah County Library, City of Portland Fire Fighters, Portland Police Horse Mounted Patrol, SPCA as well as guests that focus on cultural identity and traditional practices. The camp is offered Monday through Friday; breakfast and lunch will be provided for participating students.
