PYEC Presents: A Conversation about Thanks-Taking

Join us as we discuss how practices of colonization effect our Native American communities to this day., impacting all areas of our community members’ lives, including health, economics, kinship, politics, and much more:

Guest speaker William Miller, Cherokee/Blackfeet, NAYA Familiy Center Health Equity Program Coordinator will provide a November 2018 Election Debrief: after getting out the Native Vote here in the Portland Metro Area and around the State of Oregon what next? What do the results mean for our city, county, regional, and state governments and for our families.

“How Colonization Still Impacts Us Today?” will be presented by Dr. Carma Corcoran, Chippewa-Cree, Indian Law Program Coordinator at Lewis and Clark Law School. We will discuss the definition of colonization and what practices/systems impact our Native American communities to this day. Learn about efforts being made to create healing and how we can all start creating decolonization in our communities.
